Inception
Inspired by some of the world’s greatest touring sides, Elysium Athletics was designed to be a hallowed ground for aging sportsmen. Rather than be simply an all-star team, the intent was to bring together men of good character, deeds and ethos, put them on a field together, and see what happens.
Launched in August 2024, Elysium Rugby went on to win the 1st Tournament it entered: the CanAm Tournament, in its 50th year.

Fitness
We aspire to the belief of a lifelong dedication to fitness is important for physical and mental well-being; the team is decentralized and through the shared values and commitment to the game, pushes each other to stay vigilant and at-the-ready.
Club-first mentality
On this roster it’s easily noted that a deep loyalty and commitment to the player’s home club, often encompassing a player’s entire amateur career, and a strong sense of belonging and contribution to the club’s culture and community.
We do host those who have relocated for work, but compulsive club-hoppers, you won’t find here.
No Individualists
No rostered player has been self-nominated; the initial squad was selected by a group and moves forward with nominations coming from the player pool for consideration.
An individual does not seek out an Elysium kit; it seeks them out through actions, words and deeds seen and appreciated by their peers.
Our values
Our mission is to shape the views on aging in sport; embodying the belief that as long as you move you are an athlete.
Also exuded by the squad is the ideal that a man leaves a place better than he found it; Elysium men pay more to participate in tournaments and exhibition because the rugby funds our charitable arm, geared towards making the lives of children better through sport as the medium.
We also believe in being a good tourist and generating bonds between folks of shared values, believing that the effort of one and one is not two, but always more through the power of synergistic actions.
